Tungsten wire, as a high-performance material, plays an important role in many industrial fields because of its unique physical and chemical properties. Especially in the field of electric discharge machining (EDM) and laser cutting assistance, the use of tungsten wire is particularly prominent.
The use of tungsten wire in EDM
Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a processing technology that uses electrical discharge to etch materials and is widely used in the manufacture of high-precision, complex shaped parts, especially in mold manufacturing and aerospace. The application of tungsten wire in EDM is mainly reflected in the following aspects:

1. High hardness and high melting point
Tungsten wire has extremely high hardness and melting point, which makes it able to withstand high temperatures and high energy discharges during EDM. In EDM, a high-frequency pulse discharge is generated between the electrode and the workpiece, resulting in local high temperature, which erodes the material. The high melting point and high hardness of tungsten wire ensure its stability and durability during processing, reduce electrode wear, and improve processing efficiency and accuracy.

2. Electrical conductivity
Tungsten wire is an excellent conductive material, which can meet the requirements of electrode conduction in EDM. Good electrical conductivity ensures that the current in the EDM process can be stably passed through the electrode, thus achieving efficient material erosion.

3. Processing hard materials
Tungsten wire as electrode wire, can be used for cutting and processing hard, high-strength conductive materials, such as carbide, various high-speed steel. These materials are often difficult to process with traditional machining methods, and EDM enables them to be processed efficiently. For example, in mold manufacturing, tungsten wire electrodes can be used to make carbide molds, which are used to produce high-precision plastic products and metal parts.

4. Micro machining
With the development of science and technology, the trend of fineness of tungsten wire makes it have a broad application prospect in the field of micro-machining. Tungsten wire can efficiently cut hard materials to meet the high precision processing needs of complex shapes and micro-structures. For example, in the field of optical device manufacturing, tungsten wire can efficiently cut hard materials such as titanium alloys, providing high-quality processing solutions for the optical industry.

The use of tungsten wire in laser cutting aid
Laser cutting is a kind of processing technology that uses high energy laser beam to cut materials. It has the advantages of fast cutting speed, high precision and small heat affected zone. In the laser cutting process, tungsten wire can be used as an auxiliary tool to guide or focus the laser energy, thereby improving the accuracy and efficiency of cutting.

1. Channel or focus energy
In some high-precision laser cutting equipment, tungsten wire can be used to direct or focus laser energy. When the laser beam passes through the tungsten wire, the tungsten wire can accurately transfer the laser energy to the cutting area, ensuring the concentration and efficient use of the laser energy. This guiding or focusing action can significantly improve the accuracy of cutting, especially when machining high-precision, complex shapes.

2. Improve cutting accuracy
The high melting point and hardness of tungsten wire make it stable at high temperatures, thus ensuring the stability and accuracy of the laser cutting process. In the laser cutting process, tungsten wire can reduce the loss of laser energy and ensure the focusing effect of the laser beam, thereby improving the precision and quality of cutting.

3. Reduce material loss
By using tungsten wire to direct or focus laser energy, material loss during cutting can be reduced and material utilization can be improved. At the same time, the wear resistance of tungsten wire also enables it to maintain good performance during multiple cutting processes, reducing the frequency of electrode replacement and reducing processing costs.

Mosten Alloy can produce tungsten sheet, tungsten block, tungsten foil, tungsten rod, tungsten wire, tungsten processing workpiece according to customer demand.
