It has been proved that there is a close relationship between radiation protection ability and material density, and the higher the density, the better the shielding performance. Tungsten alloy has a high density, so it has a high shielding performance, and tungsten alloy has an advantage over lead in this respect because it has not been found to be harmful to humans or the environment in the long term. Tungsten alloy has great advantages in the field of shielding because of its linear attenuation ability to γ-rays. And the same amount of tungsten alloy shielding offers less risk than the same amount of lead shielding.

It has been proved that tungsten alloy is the best material to be used for shielding, whether in medical or industrial equipment. Compared with lead, a tungsten alloy with similar radiation shielding properties, tungsten alloy is less than a third of the volume of lead. In addition, tungsten alloys are more environmentally friendly than lead or depleted uranium in the past.
