The thermal conductivity of molybdenum is the best match with specific heat, making it a natural choice for resistance to thermal shock and thermal fatigue. Its melting point of 2620℃ is lower than tungsten, tantalum, but the density is much lower, so its specific strength (strength/density) is greater than tungsten, tantalum and other metals, and it is more effective in applications where weight requirements are critical. Molybdenum still has a high strength at 1200℃. Molybdenum metal foil has a very wide range of application markets, especially in the field of electronic devices such as ultraviolet lamps have great application prospects.

At present, due to the poor plasticity of molybdenum at room temperature, the thinnest thickness of cold-rolled molybdenum foil on the market is 50μm, but in some cases it still does not meet the demand. With the development of two-dimensional metal materials, how to prepare thinner molybdenum foils will have great scientific significance and engineering application value.

In order to overcome the shortcomings of the above prior art, a method for preparing extremely thin molybdenum metal foil, based on the high temperature physical properties of molybdenum metal, the thickness of the prepared high-quality extremely thin molybdenum foil is less than 1μm, which may provide raw materials for the mechanical preparation of two-dimensional molybdenum metal material and the subsequent preparation of two-dimensional molybdenum based catalytic materials.
