However, the plastic-brittle transition of molybdenum is a very important factor affecting its application. The addition of rhenium to molybdenum can improve the plasticity of molybdenum, but also improve the strength of molybdenum, and greatly reduce the plastic brittle-transition temperature, so that Mo-Re alloy has a good low temperature performance; At the same time, rhenium can increase the recrystallization temperature of molybdenum alloy, so that molybdenum alloy has excellent high temperature performance; The addition of rhenium also weakens the anisotropy of molybdenum and improves the processing properties, physical and chemical properties and thermoelectric properties of molybdenum alloys, which is called the "rhenium effect". The improvement of this comprehensive performance greatly expands the application of molybdenum alloy in aerospace, heating equipment, electronic technology, nuclear industry and many other high-tech fields. Molybdenum rhenium alloy can be made into cathode, grid, shield cylinder and other special parts, assembled into high-power electron tube, radar traveling-wave tube and other electronic components, used in broadcasting communications, radar facilities and other military and civilian fields. In addition, Mo-41%Re can be used as structural materials in aerospace, and Mo-50%Re is used as high-temperature structural materials.

The preparation and subsequent processing of molybdenum-rhenium alloys are complicated, and with the increase of rhenium content, the work hardening rate and recrystallization temperature will increase significantly. Therefore, suitable rolling process selection and reasonable annealing system are the key to ensure that molybdenum rhenium alloy can carry out large deformation.
