Effect of heat treatment temperature on microstructure and properties of molybdenum foil

Molybdenum foil products are widely used in the electronic industry. However, with the thinning of the 20-roller foil and the increase of processing deformation, dislocation will interact with each other and work hardening will occur, resulting in the increase of deformation resistance and plastic decline, which will affect the final use of users. Therefore, heat treatment of molybdenum is needed to eliminate work hardening, improve the structure, increase the plasticity, so that molybdenum foil has good microstructure properties, to meet the user's requirements.

Molybdenum foil is produced by 20-high rolling mill. Due to the action of tension, the rolling force can be reduced and the deformation degree can be increased to more than 60%. Because the larger the deformation, the higher the free energy of the material, the more thermodynamic instability, the greater the tendency to transition to a stable state, the smaller the energy required, so the crystallization temperature is lower. From 750~800 C, the molybdenum strip structure began to enter the initial nucleation stage, the processing stress began to eliminate, and gradually entered the crystallization stage at 850 ~900 C, the amount of crystallization is 20%~30%, but the grain is fine fiber.

The organization is obvious. 950C entered the grain growth stage, in which a few grains began to absorb and grow, and the processing texture gradually decreased. At the same time, with the increase of temperature, the grains began to absorb each other and grow up, resulting in a decrease in the number of grains and grain boundaries. In this process, the distortion caused by cold processing decreased and disappeared. However, at this time, the molybdenum strip was brittle and could not be processed later, which was caused by the distribution of impurities along the grain boundaries during recrystallization.

After heat treatment at 850~900C, the microstructure of molybdenum foil can be effectively improved and better mechanical properties can be obtained, which creates conditions for further processing such as stamping.

We are able to produce the molybdenum foil according to your demand.
