1. For hot working mold
Molybdenum alloys are mainly used in the aviation and aerospace sectors to make molds and high-temperature forging of engine parts. The applied materials are active metal carbide reinforced molybdenum, optional element reinforced molybdenum and mechanical dispersion two phase reinforced molybdenum. Active metal carbide reinforced molybdenum alloy has good high temperature strength and high thermal conductivity, so it is mainly used in hot working die industry. It is because of its high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansibility that molybdenum becomes the first choice of heat-resistant impact material.

2. Used for molten metal processing
Molybdenum is used in aluminum casting plant to control the hot cracking problem of its processing materials, that is, TZM alloy (titanium-zirconium-molybdenum) core and mand-rod (rod) are usually used in the parts of processing materials prone to hot cracking, which can also avoid the hot cracking phenomenon of materials. The use of TZM and MHC alloys can also improve the rapid solidification ability of the processing equipment. Tungsten-molybdenum alloy has the same corrosion resistance, can significantly reduce the cost of production. Therefore, Mo-25%W and Mo-30%W alloy materials suitable for application in impeller, pump set and molten zinc tube system have been developed.

3. For thermal spraying treatment
Molybdenum can be used for thermal spraying of piston rings. The method is to mix molybdenum powder with a binder containing nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr), and then spray the mixture on the piston in the form of plasma. The coating can be pure molybdenum or molybdenum alloy powder mixture, both wear and corrosion resistance, so suitable for paper industry applications. Molybdenum alloy and molybdenum powder can also be mixed with different contents of nickel, chromium, boron and silicon powder into different powder mixtures, but the spraying powder requires good fluidity, thermal spraying powder in general after spraying dry should be spherical or near-spherical shape. In addition, molybdenum and molybdenum alloy powder mixtures can also be used for plasma nozzles to densify into different quality, more wear and corrosion resistant prealloy powder.

4. For chemical treatment
Using molybdenum as electrode material in glass melting process can also improve the processing capacity of traditional furnace. Molybdenum is suitable for high temperature furnace components because of its high temperature strength and thermal stability. For example, molybdenum and molybdenum alloys are commonly used as materials for hot isostatic pressing (HIP) devices, heating elements, sleeves and supports; Ceramic in the common use of molybdenum fixture and sintered molybdenum boat; The production of oxide ceramic products in the electronics industry is almost all fired with molybdenum carrier. In addition, due to its compatibility with hot gas and its high temperature strength, molybdenum can be used in aerospace and national defense industry and other fields. However, the poor oxidation resistance of molybdenum limits its application scope. Molybdenum is mainly used as the component material of rocket and active air valve with high speed and good performance.

Molybdenum lanthanum, molybdenum niobium alloy compared with pure molybdenum products, rare earth molybdenum products have more advantages, widely used in metallurgy, machinery, petroleum, chemical, aviation, electronics and other fields. Among them, rare earth doped molybdenum material is a new material integrating structure and function, which has been paid more and more attention.
