The best material for perforated top of seamless steel tube: TZM alloy or TZC alloy?
Perforated steel pipe top, usually installed on the seamless steel pipe punch machine, used for round tube blank perforation rolling, it is one of the most important die in steel pipe production.
In 1955, it was first reported in The United States that Mo-1%V, Mo-2%W, Mo-0.5%Ti casting molybdenum alloy was used to perforate stainless steel seamless tube. In 1969, the hot perforation test of mo-0.5% Ti cast molybdenum alloy was reported in the former Soviet Union. In 1977, TZM cast molybdenum alloy was used in the hot perforation test of stainless steel in the United States.
From 1967 to 1979, Mo-0.5%Ti, TZM alloy or morphed molybdenum alloy were used as stainless steel seamless pipe perforated heads. Since 1979, the high carbon molybdenum alloy of powder metallurgy with low production cost and long service life is used to do stainless steel seamless tube production perforation tools.
Perforation means working in high temperatures and harsh environments, and the corresponding materials need to have high strength, high temperature oxidation resistance, long service life, corrosion resistance and other properties. Therefore, the perforation material is usually composed of Ti, Zr, C molybdenum alloy, referred to as TZC molybdenum alloy.
TZC alloy has excellent high temperature strength and creep resistance. Produced by powder metallurgy process, TZC alloy has higher recrystallization temperature and higher strength than pure molybdenum. Not only can be used to Pierce stainless steel, also can be used for brazing steel, high temperature alloy steel and other special parts.
In practice, the specific material used depends on the type of steel pipe being pierced. Different pipe materials have different characteristics, so different tops are required to meet different operating conditions.
