Molybdenum is a transition element, chemical symbol is Mo, with high melting point, high density (10.23g/cm³), good thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient and resistivity and other characteristics, so it is widely used in the iron and steel industry, mold industry, automobile spraying and other industries. Next, let's understand the performance comparison between molybdenum derivative TZM alloy and pure molybdenum.

TZM alloy, also known as molybdenum zirconium titanium alloy or titanium zirconium molybdenum alloy, it is a kind of high-temperature alloy commonly used in molybdenum base alloy, the composition is 0.50% titanium, 0.08% zirconium, the rest 0.02% carbon molybdenum alloy, commonly used preparation methods are: arc melting casting method and powder metallurgy technology.

Pure molybdenum (Mo1), with molybdenum content greater than 99.95%, is mainly used in high temperature environment with strict requirements on purity. However, due to its low recrystallization temperature, poor processing performance, high brittleness and low strength, it is limited in practical application.

Molybdenum zirconium titanium alloy, density 10.22g/cm³, melting point 2617℃, boiling point 4612℃. Mo1 has a density of 10.29g/cm3 and a melting point of 2610℃ and a boiling point of 5560℃.

In addition, relative to Mo1, molybdenum, zirconium titanium alloy has a higher recrystallization temperature and room temperature and high temperature strength, this is mainly because of a small amount of fine dispersion particle additives to prevent the molybdenum grain growth in high temperature conditions, thus greatly improve the alloy's recrystallization temperature, the mechanical properties at room temperature and high temperature are improved greatly. The initial recrystallization temperature and final recrystallization temperature of molybdenum-zirconium-titanium alloy are 500℃ and 450℃ higher than those of pure molybdenum, respectively.

Molybdenum-zirconium-titanium alloy can be used to make valve bodies in torpedo engines, rocket nozzles, radiant hoods, cathode tubes, etc. Pure molybdenum wire for high temperature electric furnace and edM and wire cutting processing; Molybdenum sheets are used to make radio equipment and X-ray equipment; Molybdenum crucible is mainly used in the manufacture of gun bore and rocket nozzle.
