Molybdenum Copper alloy cast iron is the material of roll, and roll is a large consumption accessory in steel rolling production. The quantity and quality of rolled steel are closely related to roll. Automation, continuous and heavy rolling process are the development direction of modern rolling technology.

Chromium is one of the strong carbide forming elements. When it is added into cast iron, it forms complex iron chromium carbides, which are stable even at very high temperatures. When a small amount of chromium is added into ordinary cast iron, the microstructure will change significantly, and the soft ferrite will become pearlite structure. It can increase the solubility of carbon in austenite, promote the formation of pearlite, reduce or even completely inhibit the precipitation of ferrite. At the same time, chromium is also a pearlite refinement element, which can greatly improve the microstructure and strength of pearlite. For the use requirements of iron roller, generally choose 0.4% - 0.8% chromium content is more appropriate. Mo, another chemical element, has mild carbide forming effect on cast iron. The physical properties of most cast iron can be improved by adding molybdenum. Molybdenum can effectively improve the tensile strength of cast iron and increase the hardness of cast iron. It has good machinability and excellent wear resistance. However, molybdenum segregation occurs easily during solidification, so the selection range of molybdenum content is 0.3% - 0.5%. Copper is mainly used as a graphitized element in cast iron. In terms of mechanical properties, especially tensile strength, bending strength and Brinell strength, almost proportional to the amount of copper, copper can also improve toughness and hardness. The addition of copper to alloy cast iron can also increase the wear resistance, heat resistance and corrosion resistance of cast iron, and improve the casting performance. Generally, copper content is 0.7% - 1.0%.

The results show that Chromium Molybdenum Copper alloy cast iron is reliable and stable as the material of roller. It has excellent high temperature oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. It has good comprehensive mechanical properties at room temperature and high temperature.
